National Heroes Memorial
Memorial to national hero, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso Avenue Muammar Gaddafi. The monument is 55 m high and weighs nearly 8,000 tons (3,000 m3 of concrete, 300 tonnes of steel). It consists of two calabashes, a turned down, and another at the top, containing the water of the agreement and the return of peace. Both calabashes are carried by four large structures that represent the four stages of the struggle of the people for: independence, the republic, the revolution and democracy. This monument, burial heroes symbolizes the gratitude and appreciation of the people of Burkina Faso as well as national unity.
The monument was built based on the expressive values of national culture.
Both calebashes are protected and supported by four posts. These four posts that rise over 47 meters represent the heroes and the four stages of the struggle of the people for: Independence, the Republic, Revolution and Democracy.
